Leverage Technology: Meetup Apps and Social Media
In the digital age, meeting people on the road has never been easier. Utilize meetup apps and social media groups dedicated to solo female travelers or women over 40 exploring the world. Connect virtually before your trip and plan meetups with fellow travelers in the same destination.
Social Worth a Try:
A good ESim is a girl’s best friend!! When I first arrived in Bali, before learning about the importance of using a sim card while traveling, I promptly got lost on the island well into the night on my first ever scooter rental. Needless to say, what started as a fun outing, ended in a scary evening hopelessly lost in a new country, unable to speak the language, yet flagging down every person passing by – and most importantly unable to find my way back to my hotel without GPS thanks to the lack of an ESim. Yikes!
Since that oh so glorious “adventure” lost in Bali, I now download Airalo ESim before I even arrive in my new destination. It’s a life saver – literally 🙂
Be a Social Butterfly at Cafés and Restaurants
Cafés and restaurants are more than just places to refuel; they’re hubs of social interaction. Strike up conversations with fellow diners, ask for recommendations, or share a table with someone who looks open to conversation. You’d be surprised at the connections made over a cup of coffee or a delicious meal.
“If you love food and travel, you need this app.”
Many destinations host networking events or gatherings specifically for travelers. Keep an eye out for local events or check online platforms for meetups happening during your stay. These events often attract solo travelers looking to connect and share experiences.
Learning a few basic phrases in the local language not only enhances your travel experience but also makes it easier to connect with locals. The effort to communicate in their language is often appreciated and can lead to engaging conversations and authentic experiences.
